AFCAT is a competitive entrance exam conducted twice a year by the Indian Air Force. It’s designed to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, knowledge, and personality traits .

The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is a gateway to a rewarding career in the Indian Air Force. It is a computer-based test that assesses a candidate’s suitability for flying and ground duties in the Air Force. If you’re aspiring to join the Indian Air Force, understanding AFCAT is crucial.

AFCAT Selection Process: The Indian Air Force (IAF) decides AFCAT selection process. The selection process comprises online test and AFSB Interview. The online test of Afcat Exam  General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, Military Reasoning, and Aptitude test. The total marks allotted to the test are 300. Candidates qualifying the online test are called for AFSB interview. AFCAT exam is conducted to select candidates for Group A Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches.

AFCAT eligibility highlights the age limit, educational qualification, medical standard, nationality, etc. It is important to check   before applying for the exam. Candidates applying for the Flying Branch should be between 20 and 24 years. The age limit of candidates applying to the Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical Branches) should be between 20 and 26 years. The basic educational qualification is graduation, however, this varies as per the departments and branches.

AFCAT Exam Pattern 2025 1

All registered candidates are required to appear for the online test AFCAT. It is mandatory for the candidates opting for Ground Duty (Technical) branch to appear in both AFCAT and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT).Afcat Exam Pattern  is such that it comprises four sections, General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test. The duration of the test is two hours. The test comprises 100 questions and carries 300 marks. The EKT exam is conducted for 45 minutes. The test carries question from Mechanical, Computer Science, and Electrical & Electronics. The test paper carries 50 questions. The maximum marks allotted to the EKT are 150. The marking scheme of AFCAT is given below:

  • Candidates score three marks for correct answers
  • One mark is deducted for every incorrect answer
  • No marks are allotted to unattempted questions

AFCAT 2025 1 Syllabus

The candidates preparing for the Air Force Common Admission Test must begin with their preparation with the latest AFCAT 2025 Syllabus to score good marks in the entrance test. 

Syllabus for English Section:

This section of the AFCAT Exam consists of at least 20 questions and the level is from moderate to difficult. Questions would be asked from comprehension, cloze test, synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases, and Error spotting.

Syllabus for General Knowledge :

This section consists of questions from Indian History, Polity, Economics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Current Affairs . The level of difficulty of this section is from easy to moderate.

Syllabus for Reasoning Section:

Questions would be asked from Series, Venn Diagram, Syllogism, Blood Relation, Non Verbal questions, Verbal reasoning, military aptitude etc.

Syllabus for Quantitative Aptitude Section:

The questions that are asked in the Mathematics sections of AFCAT are of Easy to Moderate level and questions would be asked from Number system, HCF and LCM, Time, Distance and Speed, Time and Work, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Average, Simple Interest and Compound Interest, Pipes And Cistern etc.

AFCAT AFSB Interview Details

The AFSB Interview comprises two stages. The details of each stage are given below.

Stage-I: This stage comprises the Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and discussion test. This stage is to screen candidates for the subsequent rounds. Candidates qualifying Stage-I are required to undergo document verification.

Stage-II: This stage comprises Psychological test, Group Tests and Interview. This stage continues for five days
